    Description
WWI CORRESPONDENCE. Very interesting collection of cards and letters sent from Eugen Eppler who volunteered to fight for Germany at the east front, to his wife Gerda in Malmö 1914-1919. In 1917 Eppler was captured and placed in Russian POW camp (interesting card sent from "HAMBURG 1.10 17" with information that Eppler is missing and possibly became prisoner of war), and several cards were sent from this camp both to his wife but also to his relatives in Germany. Eppler survived the camp and came back to Sweden were he and Gerda lived until 1967 and 1970. The collection contains around 70 cards and several letter sheets mostly written in German but also some in Swedish. A few cards with Swedish postage due. Also an interesting unused picture postcard where the Tsar is handing out easter egg to a soldier, probably brought back by Eppler. More information as well as pictures can be viewed on our website. A VERY INTERESTING AND SCARCE OFFER.
