    Description
Very interesting folded lettersheet with 5 kopek small pearls, in the scarcer dark blue shade with wide to good margins on the back. Dated in the contents "7. Maj. 1857" and cancelled only with large circle postmark "FREDRIKSHAMN 8.5 1857" to WIBURG / Kirvus in Karelia. Fine example of rate calculation in the Oval period. Distance from Fredrikshamn to Kirvus is more than 125 verts (it is 160 km) but from Fredrikshamn to Wiburg less than 125 verts. Rate was based on distance between post offices, not based on distance to the end location. Correct rate is therefore 5 kopek. F=90.000++. Cert. Ossa. VERY FINE & RARE
