    Earliest Known Usage of Number One 4.6 1852 A wonderful cover to Batignolles, near Paris with 5 c. with dot and 25 c. in a pair, all with large margins, most cutting lines visible. Two beautiful strikes of the very rare heart shaped "CARPI" pmk (Sass. R2 €27.500). Full contents dated 4.6 1852 and beautiful red arr. pmk 9.6 1852 on front. Only one other letter to France is known with this franking, which is dated 23.6 1852. Cert. Paolo Vaccari. Unique in three ways: 1. Earliest usage of 5 c. 2.
